Your day-one immersion into clinical care settings begins with Carle Health System. Carle, the leading hospital in East Central Illinois, is recognized nationally for critical, stroke, pulmonary and gastrointestinal care. As a student, you will have access to a full-scale, integrated healthcare system from which to draw knowledge and develop expertise.
In the new JUMP Simulation Center–built specifically to train future physician-innovators– immerse yourself in three levels of simulation (vs. the classic model of one level). Simulation technologies including standardized patients, mannequin-based simulators and virtual reality simulators are integrated into all cases. Here you will experience the latest in engineering innovations and research, preparing you for a future in technology-driven medicine.

Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology
Beckman Institute has been a hotbed of engineering and medical breakthroughs for over 25 years. Entire research themes, such as biological intelligence, would not be possible without the combined expertise in technology and medical practice. Many of the partnerships and principles practiced at Beckman will be critical to improving the future of medicine.
Dream it. Make it. The Illinois Maker Lab Network is a system of fabrication labs where the only limit to harnessing technology to improve human health is your imagination. Carle Illinois students will bring their ideas to life by engineering new solutions to global health challenges through forward design and synthesis of frontier molecules, cells, tissues and systems that translate to improve human health and well-being.

Blue Waters Supercomputer
Blue Waters is one of the most powerful supercomputers on a college campus. Carle Illinois students will be able to use it to collect and analyze large, complex data sets–one of the keys to understanding global health trends, the effectiveness of treatments across populations and finding new vulnerabilities in the DNA of known diseases. Your research will build upon previous breakthrough discoveries in science and medicine including unlocking the chemical structure of HIV capsid enabling a new generation of antiretroviral drugs.
IGB is focused on transformative research in systems biology, cellular and metabolic engineering and genome technology. As a Carle Illinois student, you will tap into the institute’s groundbreaking research in regenerative medicine, drug development and understanding of cancer at the cellular level.
