The I-MMÁS Illinois–Mexico Health Promotion Symposium will feature a keynote speech from Dr. Mark Cohen, dean of Carle Illinois College of Medicine, whose leadership is helping redefine how medicine is taught and practiced. His address, “Growing Bones and Replacing Organs through Advanced Regenerative Medicine Technologies: The Future Is Now,” will spotlight breakthroughs that are transforming what is possible in modern health care.

As dean of the nation’s first engineering-based medical school, Cohen leads Carle Illinois College of Medicine (CI MED) at the intersection of engineering and medicine, where physician-innovators are driving discovery and accelerating solutions to real-world challenges. His keynote underscores the symposium’s objective to promote strategic collaborations between scientists at UNAM FES Iztacala and the University of Illinois System by highlighting how interdisciplinary partnerships can advance regenerative medicine and improve global health outcomes.

Cohen’s participation reflects the momentum behind CI MED’s mission to revolutionize medicine through innovation, collaboration, and forward-thinking problem solving – values shared by I-MMÁS as it builds a vibrant, international research community focused on health promotion.
