Carle Illinois Honors
The Carle Illinois College of Medicine has established Carle Illinois Honors as a proxy for Alpha Omega Alpha (AoA), the National Honor Society for medical students, residents, fellows, and physicians. Until an official AoA chapter can be established, CI MED will use AoA guidelines for Carle Illinois Honors, which indicate that we may elect up to 20 percent of the graduating class of students for AoA. Each school may establish their criteria based on AoA’s mission and values, Carle Illinois’ mission and values, and definitions of excellence in physicianship. AoA suggests that, in addition to academic achievement, the criteria for selection include holistic measures such as leadership, ethical behavior, professionalism, and service to the school and the community at large.
