Dr. King Li, dean of the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, has been selected as a Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM). The ISMRM Fellowship is awarded for significant and substantial contributions to research in the field of magnetic resonance, and for significant contributions to the development of the ISMRM.
Dean Li is the inaugural dean of the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, the world’s first engineering-based college of medicine. He is a renowned researcher, educator, inventor and clinician in molecular imaging and radiology. He holds 16 patents, with another six pending, and four new invention disclosures since joining the Carle Illinois College of Medicine in October of 2017. He has a long track record of developing and commercializing intellectual property as well as setting up and administering large clinical and translational research programs.

My hope is that this recognition will propel us to continue to stretch the boundaries on research and innovation for the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, for the University of Illinois, and for the ISMRM,” said Dean Li.
The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine is a multi-disciplinary nonprofit association that promotes innovation, development, and application of magnetic resonance techniques in medicine and biology throughout the world. It is a community made up of clinicians, physicists, engineers, biochemists, and technologists – professionals united by a common interest in the ongoing dialogue between the scientific and clinical communities.
Li was presented with this award at the 2018 Annual Meeting in Paris, which was held June 16-21, 2018.
