Carle Illinois Academic Honors
The Carle Illinois College of Medicine has established Carle Illinois College of Medicine Honors as a proxy for Alpha Omega Alpha (AoA), the National Honor Society for medical students, residents, fellows, and physicians. When Carle Illinois becomes fully accredited, a chapter will be established. In the meantime, CI MED uses AoA guidelines for Carle Illinois Honors, which indicate that we may elect up to 20% of the graduating class of students for AoA. Each school may establish their criteria based on AoA’s mission and values, Carle Illinois’ mission and values, and definitions of excellence in physicianship. AoA suggests that, in addition to academic achievement, the criteria for selection include holistic measures such as leadership, ethical behavior, professionalism, and service to the school and the community at large.
