Carle Illinois College of Medicine students joined several community organizations on Saturday, October 1 for the 2022 Champaign-Urbana Pride Fest in Downtown Urbana, Illinois.

CI MED students, led by the Carle Illinois PRIDE student group, provided educational materials and information affirming LGBTQ+ health care in the community as well as opportunities for attendees to have their vitals checked.

Sabrina Mann, a second year student, takes vital signs at the 2022 Urbana Pride Festival.

Nic Nguyen, a second year student and aspiring family medicine physician, volunteers at the Carle Illinois vitals station where he and fellow students provided free health screenings and measured vital signs for participants at the 2022 Urbana Pride Festival.

The mission of Carle Illinois PRIDE is to create a support network for LGBTQ+ identifying and allied medical students. The group also provides education and perspectives on the healthcare-related issues related to LGBTQ+ community so that CI MED students and staff are prepared to provide LGBTQ+ inclusive care to their patients.

The CU Pride Fest was hosted by the Uniting Pride (UP) Center of Champaign County, which advocates for the equality, wellness, advocacy, and visibility of the LGBTQ+ communities in Champaign County.
